The use of drugs is a polarizing topic. It is often associated with addiction and destructiveness, but some also believe in its healing power. Afterglow is a term that refers to positive physical and mental effects following the use of hallucinogenic drugs. The imagery in WINDOWPANE ON NEW YEARS EVE refers to a feeling after a night on LSD.
After waking up, there was a feeling of exaltation and an urge to create. Remembering that I had filmed most of my night with a mini DV camera, I began to think about the moments that were still clear from th night before and searched for them on my ca- mera. The green and somber footage, that was created by the night vision, was rephotographed of the screen from the camera, matched my memories and visually translated my experience.
The series invites the viewer to experience a night with someone who was under the influence. Visually, the patterns, gloom and green mode have transformed a journey of joy into a memory that can now be relived.
